1. What inspired you to publish your book?
Honestly, I never thought I had it in me to write, however, my friends and students loved the way I told stories verbally. Then, after my father and sister's death, my mother told me it was time to step out and write a book.
2. What can readers take away from your book?
What readers can take away from this story is that there is life after a loss. Sometimes a special road is mapped out for them to do something greater if they only learn to press pass the pain.
3. What was your writing process like?
For this project the writing process was difficult. I had to, in essence, re-live one of the most horrible, yet beautiful moments in my life; which was the life and death of my friend. Usually, after something traumatic happens to me, blocking it out of my memory is my coping mechanism. Nevertheless, for me to write about this event in my life, I traveled back to my stomping grounds and played music from that era to trigger my memory. Music was the one thing that worked.
4. What is your favorite chapter in this book, and why?
My favorite chapters in the book are Chapters 1,2 and 9. I love Chapter 1 and 2 because it was the beginning of my adult life. It was exciting, new, and fun. Chapter 9 began my journey of learning about who I was in my life. It's a lesson I tackle daily.
5. Are you planning to write other books?
Yes, I am definitely planning to write another book. There are so many stories to tell.
6. What's a cool or interesting fact about yourself?
A cool and interesting fact about me is that I love kitchen gadgets and cookbooks. I collect cookbooks and never use them, but I love them. Also, I am an introvert/extrovert.
7. What is some advice you would give aspiring or first-time authors?
The advice I would give an aspiring or first-time writer is:
Take the leap, you are never ready, make up your mind and do it.
Pray
Surround yourself with people who will encourage you
Get a great publisher like November Media Publishing... have you heard of them? They're great!!!!
